Aldo Leopold Festival

May 28 - June 1, 2025
Les Cheneaux Islands, Michigan

What is the Aldo Leopold Festival?

Les Cheneaux welcomes you to celebrate the legacy of Aldo Leopold — one of America’s most influential naturalists — during our festival, May 28th – June 1st, 2025. Activities include paddling excursions, orchid and wildflower tours, birding trips, presentations, and many other nature-based activities. Experience the woods and water that formed Leopold’s early impressions of the natural world as we honor the mark he made on conservation and the environment.

Registration for the 2025 Aldo Leopold Festival will open on April 1.

About our Festival Posters

Local illustrator Katie Elberts has designed the annual poster for the Aldo Leopold Festival for the past 9 years. The 2024 poster features many of the foraged plants that are available in Michigan including: wild asparagus, plantain, wild violets, thistle, wild lettuce, morel mushrooms, golden chanterelle, yarrow, dandelion, red clover, cedar, trout lily leaf, and oyster mushrooms.
Festival posters will be available for sale at the Hessel School House while supplies last beginning in May. A limited supply of past festival posters are also available.
